The Environmental, Zoning and Land Use Practice Groups work together and offer an interdisciplinary approach that has given our lawyers broad experience in issues and challenges that often arise in real estate, energy and utilities matters.
This combination of practices offers a strong emphasis on environmental due diligence and precise agreements that allocate environmental liability. Our attorneys advise sellers and buyers of businesses, property owners, prospective purchasers, lenders, tenants and licensees on environmental cleanup and remediation standards and strategies. We are proud to be recognized leaders in the area of land use permitting.
Our experience ranges from formulating strategies for risk avoidance and managing the permitting process (including the preparation of environmental impact reports) to analyzing and documenting environmental compliance, advising clients on cleanup and remediation approaches, assessing liability under hazardous-waste laws and participating in administrative proceedings. We combine our extensive experience in environmental matters with a strong commitment to helping clients reach economic goals, as well. This includes work related to development projects and acquisitions, as well as supporting the operation and expansion of existing facilities. We also appear before city and town boards to obtain zoning, environmental or subdivision approvals.
