Mr. Meyers has over 18 years of experience representing pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. He advises companies and investors on creating and implementing patent strategies to promote commercial and business goals.
Mr. Meyers represents public and private companies, investors, and academic institutions in the life sciences arena. His portfolio of life science companies spans diagnostics, life science tools and technology platforms, genomics and genetics and therapeutics. He also advises companies in these sectors: medical devices (cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, spine), organic and medicinal chemistry (including synthetic processes, industrial processes, small molecule synthesis, labeling dyes), and optics (fluorescent detection; microscopy).
As part of Brown Rudnick’s Cleantech Team, Mr. Meyers is also part of collaborative, cross-disciplinary initiatives to assist clients in this evolving sector.
Before joining Brown Rudnick, Mr. Meyers was a partner at Testa Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP and later Chair of the Intellectual Property Department at Sullivan & Worcester LLP. From 2004 – 2007, Mr. Meyers served as Vice President and General Counsel of Helicos BioSciences Corporation, where he directed and implemented patent and legal strategies and played a significant role in that company’s successful IPO.
Mr. Meyers speaks and writes extensively on strategic planning, partnering and patent matters, and presents frequently at major pharma and life sciences meetings. In addition, he advises pharmaceutical company analysts and serves as a resource for the press on matters relating to pharmaceutical litigation. Mr. Meyers is also an adjunct professor of law at Suffolk University Law School.

• Represents venture capitalists in IP diligence matters.
• Negotiated and drafted numerous partnering deals, including a diagnostics company in $150+ million license deal.
• Represented tools company in $10 million licensing transaction.
• Handled a significant number of corporate and academic in-licensing and out-licensing deals.
• Represents clients in patent interference and reexamination proceedings.
